Control
All village social media is under the control of the Cowbit Village Hall Committee responsible for the Ownership and administration.
It appoints and approves the admin that monitors the feed day 2 day, in accordance with the rules.
Admins
Any member of a Facebook group can be appointed as an admin as long as they’re:
-
Connected to the village.
-
Being a member of the FB group
-
Has a personal Facebook account,
5 is a recommended number but can be more but no less three (3) in order that any decision is guaranteed a majority rule in favour.
Any changes in the rules, the committee has the final approval
Wherever possible admin’s must be a cross section of Cowbit village community, and all act independent of each other and not live in the same household
Membership for the Facebook group is approved only if they have answered both questions correctly, unless they have been recommended by someone else, which we cannot disabled.
Removal or banning anybody can be done by just 1 admin if they believe a rule has been broken.
Rules
No hate speech or bullying
Make sure everyone feels safe. Bullying of any kind isn't allowed, and degrading comments about things such as race, religion, culture, sexual orientation, gender or someone's identity will not be tolerated.
No promotions or business posts
Business, Self-promotion, business spam, political posts from candidates and irrelevant links and promotional posts are not allowed. We define business/promotional as being placed by or on behalf of, an organisation operating primarily for personal or corporate profit. Volunteer run or charitable events which are relevant to Cowbit are allowed, even if a modest fee is charged for admission, participation or similar; Only 1 post per day is allowed.
Private for sale posts are not allowed. Posts for items that are being gifted, or offered in exchange for a charitable donation, are allowed but are limited to 1 post per day. There are numerous dedicated buy/sell groups covering Cowbit which can be used for sales.
The only few exceptions would be community events with the church school, Parish Council, Village Hall.
Events are allowed if in the interest of the village residents, only posted once and are not from a business, and near or in the parish of Cowbit.
Members are allowed to ask for recommendations, which could be a business.
Be kind and courteous
We're all in this together to create a welcoming environment. Let's treat everyone with respect. Healthy debates are natural, but kindness is required. While understanding everybody’s right to their own view, this must be done in an environment that is not deliberately being rude, racist or unkind.
items for free
Each resident is allowed 1 post per day to give any items for free to the local community, must be a resident in the village or very local.
Complaints Procedure
If anyone is unhappy with the decision of the admins they can contact the village hall committee and this will be reviewed at its next meeting.
